Our standards
What a member, family or referrer will be able to expect on every journey once Community Ride Hub is operating.
This is not a booking service yet
Community Ride Hub is preparing to operate. This page describes a proposed service. Journeys cannot yet be arranged, and nothing here is an offer of transport.
Our promise to passengers
These are the standards we intend every driver and every journey to meet. They come from how we plan to train our people, translated here into what it should mean for the person travelling with us. They are commitments for when services begin — not a description of journeys running today.
- We will arrive on time, or let you know as soon as we can if something changes.
- Drivers will wear uniform so you can identify them easily.
- Vehicles will be kept clean, inside and out.
- We will respect your confidentiality and only share your information where we need to, to arrange your journey safely.
- We will drive safely, in line with the law and our own procedures, at all times.
- We will follow the procedures set out in our policies, including for safeguarding and incidents.
- We will be polite and treat every passenger with respect and patience.
- We will keep accurate records of journeys and any incidents, so we can be accountable.
Driver assurance
Behind each of these promises is a set of checks we expect every driver to meet before, and throughout, their time with Community Ride Hub.
Enhanced DBS check
Every driver is expected to hold an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check appropriate to working with vulnerable passengers.
MiDAS or equivalent assessment
Drivers are expected to complete Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme training, or an equivalent passenger-assistance assessment, before carrying passengers.
Induction and ongoing training
New drivers go through induction covering safety, safeguarding and our procedures, with training refreshed on an ongoing basis.
Daily vehicle defect checks
Vehicles are expected to be checked for defects before use each day, with any fault reported and resolved before a journey goes ahead.
Our commitment to our people
We do not think these standards can be sustained by asking drivers to try harder. They depend on Community Ride Hub resourcing its people properly: fair treatment, proper training, the equipment they need to do the job safely, and a culture where raising a concern is welcomed rather than discouraged. Standards that are not backed by this kind of support are just words on a page — so we treat our commitment to our own people as part of the standard itself, not separate from it.
