Home-to-school and SEND transport

We want Community Ride Hub to be able to provide accessible home-to-school transport for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, arranged through schools and local authorities.

What it is

This page sets out Community Ride Hub's interest and capability in home-to-school and SEND transport, not a live service. Any future arrangement would be commissioned through a school or local authority, following their normal procurement and safeguarding processes, rather than booked directly by a family.

Who it is for

  • Children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities who need accessible transport to school or college
  • Local authority SEND transport teams looking for accessible transport providers
  • Schools coordinating transport for pupils they support

How it would work

We would expect to work with a local authority or school to agree routes, timetables and safeguarding arrangements, including enhanced DBS checks and passenger assistant training for every driver and escort involved. Vehicles would be suitable for wheelchair users and other accessibility needs, where required.

This page describes our capability and interest only. It is not an invitation to tender, and we are not currently able to state whether or when we will hold a home-to-school transport contract. That position is [TBC] and depends on future decisions by the Board and by local authority commissioners.

Safeguarding

Any home-to-school or SEND transport we provide would follow our safeguarding policy in full, including enhanced DBS checks for every adult in contact with children, and clear procedures for handovers at both ends of the journey.

This is not a booking service yet

Community Ride Hub is preparing its services. No home-to-school or SEND transport is currently running, and this page does not offer or guarantee any place on a service.

Talk to us about a future partnership

If you represent a local authority SEND transport team or a school, we would like to discuss what Community Ride Hub could offer.
