Where can I go?
Everyday trips that help you stay connected — shopping, friends, community groups and many local appointments.
What Connect should cover
Because Connect is pre-booked, shared and door-to-door, we expect it to suit everyday community journeys such as:
- Shopping and essential local errands
- Visiting family or friends
- Community centres, libraries and social clubs
- Faith groups and community events
- Leisure and wellbeing activities
- Hairdresser, bank or post office
- GP, dentist, pharmacy and routine community health appointments where specialist medical transport is not required
- Visiting someone in hospital or care (as a visitor)
- Council or community appointments
- Other reasonable local community journeys within the operating area
What Connect should not normally cover
Recurring commissioned transport belongs in the right Community Ride Hub service — not under a Connect membership alone. Five-days-a-week day-centre or school transport is arranged through Referred Membership or a partner contract, so it is properly funded.
- Hospital / clinical patient transport
- Critical hospital appointments, discharge, dialysis-type recurring journeys and specialist patient transport → Health and NHS journeys.
- Regular day-centre transport
- Recurring social-care routes → Day centres and social care.
- School / SEND transport
- Dedicated education routes → Home-to-school and SEND.
- Whole-vehicle group booking
- An organisation booking an entire vehicle → Accessible Group Transport.
- Purchased regular service
- Council, NHS or organisation buying a regular contracted service → Commissioned and partnership services.
Medical journeys — a clear boundary
Connect can support GP, dentist, pharmacy, optician and routine community health appointments where the passenger does not need specialist medical transport. Hospital and clinic journeys with critical punctuality or clinical requirements should generally move into Community Ride Hub Health & NHS pathways once those partnerships are in place.
Within a defined area
Connect journeys are expected to operate within a defined Connect zone described on our eligibility page. Journeys outside that area are unlikely in the early stages of the service.
Availability is managed carefully. Membership does not guarantee every requested journey — especially at busy times — so the service can stay safe, reliable and fully funded.
This is not a booking service yet
Community Ride Hub is preparing to operate. This page describes a proposed service. Journeys cannot yet be arranged, and nothing here is an offer of transport.
